Dave Rubio

Dave Rubio graduated from Granada High School in 1977. He played Volleyball at Pierce College for Brahma Hall of Fame Coach Ken Stanley. After his Brahma success he moved on to CSUN where he was an All-Conference selection. Dave graduated from CSUN in 1982.

Dave was able to share his coaching wisdom and experience at local high schools: Chatsworth, Granada Hills, and Westlake. He later found his way to C.S.U. Bakersfield, as head coach for the Women’s Volleyball program. In five seasons he led the Roadrunners to three consecutive Top 5 finishes and won the 1989 National Championship. In 1989 he was named National Coach of the Year.

In 1992 Dave was named Head Women’s Volleyball Coach at the University of Arizona. During the span of 20 years, the Wildcats have been to five Sweet 16s, four Elite Eights, and to Arizona’s first ever Final Four.

Through his leadership and coaching excellence, the Wildcats to have attained a 321-189 (.589) overall record, and in 2000 Arizona’s first ever Pac 10 title. After his success that season he was named Volleyball Magazine National Coach of the Year.
