Eldin Onsgard

While attending Pierce College from 1970-1972, Eldin competed in swimming, water polo, spring board diving and volleyball. Eldin received awards for Most Inspirational and Most Improved - Swimming, Most Valuable Water Polo, 1st Team All-Conference - Water Polo/Diving, All-American Diving and was Team Captain Water Polo and Swimming.

He coached swimming, water polo and springboard diving at Pierce College from 1979 to 1986.

He has been teaching with the LA Community College District for over 30 years and is currently a full-time Professor in Kinesiology and Health at East Los Angeles College and part-time at Pierce College. He has been an LA County Lifeguard for the past 45 years.

Eldin continues to compete in the Surf Lifesaving Regional and National competitions. He competed in open events until age 58 and now competes in the Masters Division. In August 2013, he received one 3rd Place, two 2nd Place and six 1st Place finishes in the Nationals, including a 1st place in the American Ironman.
