Biography:

I have worked at Pierce since the spring of 1974 when streakers were the rage. The campus newspaper was my home until 1997 when I became the director of the PACE program and associate dean of the evening division. In 1998 I became a dean of Academic Affairs. I started the 2000s as the director of marketing and public relations.

While a teacher, I was named the Community College Teacher of the Year for journalism by the California Newspaper Publishers Association.

As a reporter, I won writing awards from the Valley Press Club and United Press International.

I have a master's degree from Northwestern University and a bachelor's degree from California State University, Long Beach. I began my college education at a community college (El Camino).

Current Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating the marketing of the college.
  • Handling public relations for the college.
  • Working with the media to explain Pierce's programs to the community.
  • Relating to all segments of the college's internal community the programs of the college.

Hobbies and interests:

Reading, attending theater, golf, travel, computers and sports.


Family:

Three grandchildren, five children and three cats.
