The “online” courses are COMPLETELY online.  There are NO on-campus meetings.  ALL exams will be taken online.  Phil 19 is NOT an online course.

We will employ Moodle as our coursetool for all the online courses.  Moodle is an online teaching environment which you will need to familiarize yourself with immediately if you choose to enroll in one of these courses.

You need to read the following before deciding to take either course:

Be Realistic about Yourself Regarding the online courses

  • If you have a tendency to procrastinate, do NOT take one of the online courses because the chances are that you will keep putting things off until you are too far behind.
  • If you are not already sufficiently comfortable working with computers, do NOT take this online course because there is too great a risk that you will get bogged down just in the mechanics.
  • If you are not strongly motivated and able to see things through on your own, definitely do NOT take this online course.

Be Realistic about the online Courses

  • If your high-school or college GPA is low, it's quite likely that you should work on other subjects (English, for instance) to bring yourself up to the level you need to be at for a college course of this type.
  • If you are uncomfortable with individuals who express beliefs and values sometimes quite different from your own, you should probably not take this particular course since one requirement is that your comments are shared with everyone else in the course.

STUDENT REQUIREMENTS for online courses:

  1. Purchase the required text as designated by the professor in the course syllabus during the first week of Class.
  2. Have immediate access to an IBM compatible Personal Computer. The Apple/Mac Computer and related accessories seem be compatible with these courses.
