What is Academic & Progress Probation?
(A student shall be placed on Academic or Progress Probation after enrolling in a minimum of 12 units).
Academic Probation
If you achieve less than a cumulative 2.0 Grade Point Average you will be placed on Academic Probation. This can be removed by achieving a cumulative 2.0 GPA or higher.
Progress Probation
If you Withdraw (drop), receive an Incomplete or No-Credit from 50% of the courses you register for you will be placed on “Progress Probation.” Ex: if you register for 12 units and then withdraw from 6 units, you will be placed on “Progress Probation.” Students may be removed from progress probation status when the cumulative number of withdraws, incompletes, and no-credit units is less then half the cumulative units attempted.
Disqualification
If you are on Progress or Academic Probation for three consecutive semesters, you may be subject to disqualification of the school. This means you will not be able to attend Pierce College nor any of the LA Community Colleges for one year. You can attend a college outside of the district. After one year (two semesters), you may request reinstatement. It may be granted, denied, or postponed subject to fulfillment of conditions prescribed by the College.
