Resources for Veterans
At our Spring semester Kick Off "Welcome Back" Lunch for veterans we received requests from students for more information regarding mental health resources. We appreciate feedback from our students and have developed a detailed list of mental health resources available to veterans, military members, and their families within the community.
Veterans Employment Center
The Veterans Employment Center on eBenefits at www.ebenefits.va.gov/ebenefits/jobs which was launched in April 2014 by First Lady Michelle Obama and Second Lady Dr. Jill Biden is the first government-wide product providing job seeks the tools to translate military skills into plain language. Veterans can build a profile that can be shared instantly with public and private employers with real job opportunities.

New Veteran & Military Student Facebook Page
In an effort to further connect with our veteran and military students, we have created a new Facebook page. This Facebook page gives students an additional way to connect and provide feedback to the veterans office. Please "Like" our page to receive information about upcoming events for our veteran students.
New Website Devoted to Women Veterans
U.S. Department of Labor develops new website devoted to Women Veterans. DOL Secretary Tom Perez discusses the DOL ongoing efforts to understand the needs of women veterans and they can best optimize their skills.
Welcome Back Lunch, Spring 2014
Several veteran and military students attended the Welcome Back Lunch event on February 26th in the Great Hall. Students networked with each other, enjoyed a free lunch, collected information from the resource fair, and listened to guest speakers Levi Kinnard and Rob Yopps talk about their experiences as veterans. Resource fair participants included: CSUN, CSULA, UCLA, Chatsworth and Sepulveda Vet Centers and Pierce College Student Services Departments (Financial Aid, Veterans Office, Health Center, Special Services, Counseling, Career and Transfer, Center for Academic Success, Mentor and Mentee Program).
