S.T.O.P.: Smoking & Tobacco Off Pierce
Free and Confidential On-Campus Resource for Smoking Cessation Support
The STOP (Smoking & Tobacco Off Pierce) Program is a free service provided through the Student Health Center.
- On-going individual smoking counseling
- Visits, as needed, with health educators
One-on-one counseling sessions provide analysis and reflection of habits to help promote positive strategies and coping skills for changing cognition and behavior to quit smoking. The positive orientation of the program eliminates the negative responses of guilt, shame, and failure, focusing on self-efficacy, empowerment, and success.
NICOTINE REPLACEMENT THERAPY (NRT)
The Nicotine Patch provides a 24-hour transdermal dosing of nicotine to reduce withdrawal symptoms. NRT is safe because it eliminates tar, carbon monoxide, cyanide, arsenic, formaldehyde, ammonia, and benzene into the lungs and bloodstream.

PIERCE'S NO SMOKING REGULATION
Per Pierce College's smoking regulation, the central campus and farm are smoke-free.This regulation includes e-cigarettes (which are also not allowed on campus). No type of smoking is permitted in any classroom or other enclosed facility.
Smoking is only permitted in two designated locations: the STUDENT lot of Parking Lot 1 and the Fence area parallel to Victory Blvd. in Parking Lot 7.
