Unforeseen health problems can result in extensive medical bills. Health insurance coverage will minimize the chance of jeopardizing your college education due to a financially devastating illness or disease. The Student Health Center recommends the purchase of major medical insurance. See the links below for referrals to insurance providers. When shopping for insurance, compare expenses in the following four categories:

1. Premium Payments: Direct out of pocket cost to you for insurance. May be due monthly, quarterly, annually, etc.
2. Deductible: The annual out of pocket expense the insured must pay before their insurance begins to pay for any medical expenses.
3. Co-Pay: The amount the insured must pay at the time of an office visit with a medical provider, before being seen.
4. Coverage or Contracted Rate: The percentage of your medical expenses covered by the insurance company after you have met your deductible.

Information on various student accident and sickness insurance plans is available. Brochures are located outside the Student Health Center in the Campus Center. Enrollment requirements may vary between insurance providers. Many allow enrollment of dependents.
