It’s all about having more flexibility for your schedule.
Are you interested in taking a class with the option of attending it both in-person and online? You can – Pierce College adopts “Dual Delivery” for 150 of our Spring Semester classes, and you can enroll in them now. Go in person, and on days when you can’t, Zoom in online.
You simply need to find the “DD: dual delivery” notation for the class in our Spring Schedule. If you are logged in to Canvas, there is a list of Dual Delivery classes available for spring. To take Dual Delivery you must be vaccinated and cleared to come on campus.
Dual Delivery is made possible by new technology called The Meeting Owl (center of photo above) that your professor will use to make your classroom a hybrid one. The Owl camera is equipped with a 360° lens that captures a panoramic view of your classroom.
Since Pierce College is the only college in the LACCD district offering this new technology, it won’t show up in the Student Information System.
TO FIND “DD: DUAL DELIVERY” CLASSES:
1. Go Pierce's Schedules Page on our website and choose Spring 2022 Tab.
2. Select and open the Microsoft Word version of the Spring 2022 Schedule of Classes
3. Use the “find” function in Word, or Control+f, type in “DD:”
4. The results show our Dual Delivery classes to enroll in.
5. Find the class you want, and choose the Dual Delivery section number if you are cleared for COVID to come on campus.
6. Note that every class has two section numbers for the same class. One is DUAL DELIVERY and the other is ONLINE only.
CLEARED OR NOT CLEARED?
If you are cleared for COVID-19 requirements, sign up for the class section number marked “DD: dual delivery.” If you are not, you can still sign up for the class, but choose the ONLINE class section number only. Then you cannot attend in person. Every student and staff member must be cleared for COVID (vaccinated and having upload their proof of vaccination) to come on campus. See your college email for Cleared4 information or attend one of our upcoming Wednesday Virtual Pop-Ups for help.
Need help getting cleared? There's a hotline for that. Please email covid19info@piercecollege.edu.
Here is a schedule example, using an English 101 class. LIVE-OL means Live Online (same as Online synchronous, where you attend class remotely at a certain day and time.) It is only the “on-campus” class that offers the option of “attend either in person or online,” and it requires verification of COVID vaccination status (Cleared4) to enroll. The online (LIVE-OL) class does not require proof of vaccination and is fully (and only) online.
