Modern Languages

Welcome to the Modern Languages Department

The department offers language and culture courses leading to degrees and certificates that prepare students to communicate effectively and to pursue upper-division coursework at four-year universities if their goal is transfer. Most full-time students are able to complete these degrees in four semesters. The ASL Interpreting Associate of Arts (AA) degree requires three years: two years of language training, and two additional semesters of interpreting training.

The Modern Languages Department supports the college’s educational mission by offering general education courses and programs leading to degree completion, transfer, and career preparation. We also serve the community with a comprehensive curriculum that supports lifelong learning and cultural awareness.
